    About the Artwork

    Elsewhere V by Jeonghui Lee

"A black cat enshrined in golden dignity." In this fifth piece of the Elsewhere series, Jeonghui Lee centers on a black cat, an animal often surrounded by superstition or indifference. Perched atop a sphere of real gold leaf on Hanji paper, the cat is transformed from a common stray into a noble guardian of its own world. The stark contrast between the deep, matte black ink and the shimmering gold creates a powerful visual statement about the sanctity of every life, no matter how small or misunderstood.

    Why We Love This Collection

    🐈 Black & Gold
The color combination is simply stunning. The deep, velvety black of the cat against the radiant gold leaf creates a chic, modern, and luxurious aesthetic. It serves as a sophisticated focal point in any room, especially against white or neutral walls.

    👑 Dignity of the Overlooked
Black cats are sometimes avoided due to superstition, but here, the cat is the protagonist of a golden paradise. This artwork carries a beautiful message of breaking prejudice and treating all creatures with love and respect.

    🏺 Vertical Elegance
Like the other works in this series, the slim vertical format (approx. 1.7:1) is versatile and stylish. It looks exceptional when hung in an entryway, hallway, or alongside Elsewhere II and IV as a triptych collection.

    🏆 Proven Value
Jeonghui Lee is a rising contemporary artist known for her unique use of traditional materials (mineral pigments, gold leaf) and profound subject matter. Her works invite deep contemplation and have been recognized in various exhibitions for their distinct artistic voice.
