    About the Artwork

Unwanted Weeds VI by Jeonghui Lee

"A portrait of resilience reaching for the light." Jeonghui Lee continues her exploration of overlooked life in this tall, vertical composition. Painted on sturdy Jangji (thick Korean paper) with mineral pigments, the artwork captures the upward momentum of wild grass. The elongated format emphasizes the plant's drive to grow and survive, turning a simple weed into a symbol of aspiration and vitality. The texture of the Jangji adds a rugged, earthy depth that complements the subject perfectly.

    Why We Love This Collection

    🌱 Growth & Vitality
The vertical composition naturally draws the eye upward, mimicking the growth of the plant. This upward movement brings a positive, uplifting energy to the room, symbolizing progress and resilience.

    📜 Scroll-like Aesthetic
With its 2:1 ratio, this piece evokes the feeling of a traditional Asian hanging scroll (Jokja). It adds a touch of classic elegance and serene beauty to modern interiors, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary art.

    🧱 Texture of Jangji
Unlike standard paper, Jangji is thick and multi-layered. The print captures the specific fibrous texture of this traditional paper, making the artwork feel warm, solid, and organic—like bringing a piece of nature indoors.

    🏆 Proven Value
Jeonghui Lee is a rising contemporary artist known for her unique use of traditional materials (mineral pigments, gold leaf) and profound subject matter. Her works invite deep contemplation and have been recognized in various exhibitions for their distinct artistic voice.
