Profile

Sangheon Lee (b. 1980, Korea)

Sangheon Lee is a contemporary Korean artist who visualizes the intangible flow of nature, such as "the wind" and "starry nights." A graduate of Chung-Ang University (B.F.A. in Korean Painting), Lee combines traditional brushwork with a unique finishing technique.

He first builds the background by meticulously layering lines and colors with a fine brush on Jangji (thick Korean paper). Then, for the final touch, he uses a syringe to squeeze out acrylic paint, creating a distinct relief-like texture (Matière). This accumulation of delicate brushstrokes and tactile dots captures the traces of time and the rhythm of nature. His works are collected by prestigious institutions including the MMCA Art Bank, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Lotte Hotel Seoul Executive Tower.
